PalmWOL can turn on - wake up - computers remotely by sending the so called magic packet. There are many WOL clients on different platforms, this is the one for Palm OS based devices. The magic packet is sent through a tcp/ip connection to the computer network adapter.
In order to work, both the network adapter and the computer bios must support the wake up on lan - WOL - technology. All you need is the network adapter MAC address (such as 4D:41:54:52:4F:21) along with its assigned IP address or, basing on local router configuration, subnet broadcast address such as 192.168.1.255. naming resolving is supported too, so you can easily type in computer hostname. If you want to wake up computers remotely from the Internet, you must specify router public IP address or hostname; then, ensure you have enabled UDP packets forwarding.
